Morrison Gvt. Partners with Hospitality Industry to Deliver Hundreds of In-demand Jobs for Australians in Hospitality and Tourism

The Morrison Government is partnering with the hospitality and tourism industries to connect hundreds of young job seekers to employment opportunities in tourism and hospitality through the $10 million PaTH Business Placement Partnerships program.
Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) and the Accommodation Association of Australia (AAoA) have been chosen to deliver new pathways to jobs in the hospitality and tourism industries – the first two funded under the program.
Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business, Stuart Robert, said the two targeted initiatives will deliver tailored pre-employment pathways that better link young jobs seekers with employers who have significant workforce needs.
‘In line with the Morrison Government’s skills-led economic recovery, these initiatives are skilling hundreds of young Australians to ensure they are job-ready for work in industries that are crying out for staff,’ Minister Robert said.
‘Participants will receive short, targeted training and a hands-on internship with the view of landing a real job upon completion.
‘Not only will this program create opportunities for job seekers, there has never been a better time for employers to give a young Australian a chance. Businesses can receive a wage subsidy of up to $10,000 for employing eligible participants to help settle them into a workplace.’
R&CA will deliver the Building Skills for the Future of Hospitality program, offering up to 500 participants three days of face-to-face training before a four-week internship during which they will be matched with a business and trained by hospitality professionals such as chefs and business owners.
The Accommodation Association Pathway Partnership is a pre-employment pathway for up to 400 young people that incorporates two weeks of experience-based training and a four-week internship with a host employer, which also includes mentoring from the AAoA and employment services providers.
‘These Industry Workforce Solutions also include support to help employers understand how to best recruit suitable young people looking for a career in these sectors,’ Minister Robert said.
‘Now that these two panel members have kick-started the program, we look forward to working with other industry associations on the panel in an effort to co-design pathways tailored to the needs of other critical industries such as disability care, construction, and manufacturing and motor trades.
‘The Government is committed to working hand-in-glove with these industries, and many others, to create even more employment and training pathways for young Australians.’
